Nation's top Rodeo Cowboy sends special message to Heisman winner Travis Hunter: "You are my Hero"

Travis Hunter made history on Saturday, becoming the first two-way player since Michigan’s Charles Woodson in 1997 and the first Colorado Buffaloes player since Rashaan Salaam in 1994 to take home the Heisman Trophy, college football's highest individual honor.

The Nation's No. 2 Professional Rodeo Cowboy, John Crimber, a close friend of Hunter, sent a message to the Heisman winner.

"I told you he was going to win it," Cimber said. "I hit it over there at the Fort Worth PBR World Finals because I had it in my mind that he was going to do it. So congratulations, Travis—you deserve it. You're a bad one, let’s just say that. You’re my hero."

Travis Hunter surprises rider John Crimber at PBR World Title Elimination Final

In May, John Crimber, preparing for the 2024 PBR World Finals eliminator, saw his favorite "college football player" seated in the stands to see him ride 'Brown Bomber' at the 2024 PBR World Finals eliminator.

Travis Hunter was there to cheer the rider as he went about his business.

“That really fired me up, and I told him I was going to do the Heisman (celebration) for him, because I think he’s going to win the Heisman,” Crimber said. “So that was really awesome, just for him being here.”

It was in May, way before college football season hada started. So, Crimber knew before most that Travis Hunter was going to win the Heisman Trophy this year.

Hunter lived up to his words, delivering an exceptional season for the Colorado Buffaloes, which saw them almost getting a conference title game since the early 2000s. They eventually finished the season strong (9-3, 7-2 Big 12 conference), blowing past Oklahoma State in the season finale.

Hunter, who along with his quarterback Shedeur Sander will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, took home other honors as well apart from the Heisman Trophy. The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year took home the Walter Camp Award, Chuck Bednarik Award, Fred Biletnikoff Award, second consecutive Paul Hornung Award, Lott Trophy and AP College Football Player of the Year honors.

Moreover, Hunter was named a first-team All-American and first-team All-Big 12.
