"NCAA's track record in court is worse than Carolina Panthers' on gridiron": Paul Finebaum rips "powerless" NCAA over latest Michigan investigations

College football analyst Paul Finebaum doesn't think the NCAA will be able to do much against the Michigan Wolverines. The NCAA is currently investigating the Wolverines for the sign-stealing allegations last season.

In the first draft, the NCAA has Level 1 violations against Jim Harbaugh, Chris Partridge, Denard Robinson and Connor Stalions as well as a Level 2 violation against Sherrone Moore.

However, speaking on ESPN, Finebaum doesn't think the allegations are all that serious and doesn't think the NCAA will be able to punish Michigan.

"I don't think it is really going anywhere because the NCAA doesn't have a lot of teeth. Does Sherrone Moore look bad deleting texts? Of course, he does. Everybody knows that is not the answer, because there is a way to find out these things. But, I don't think this will mean that much because the NCAA is almost powerless," Finebaum said.
"Why is it powerless, because the second it does something there will be an army of lawyers trying to get injunctions and they will succeed. The NCAA's track record in court is worse than the Carolina Panthers in the gridiron, they have no chance against anyone," Finebaum added.

With Finebaum saying it's unlikely the NCAA will be able to punish Michigan, the Wolverines' national championship and wins from this past season seem unlikely to be taken.

Michigan football says they're cooperating with the investigation

The Michigan Wolverines football program is fully cooperating with the NCAA for the investigation, the school told ESPN:

"Our athletic department and university continue to cooperate with the NCAA regarding our ongoing investigation. We do not have an update to share regarding its status at this time."

The investigation appears close to wrapping up, but what punishment, if any, comes down is uncertain, as Finebaum said he doesn't think the NCAA has the power to do much.

The investigation stems from Connor Stalions allegedly videotaping other team's sidelines to steal their signs. Stalions has since resigned from his coaching role with Michigan and he has a tell-all Netflix special coming out later this month.
