Nebraska defensive line coach Terrance Knighton took a playful jab at Colorado by mimicking Shedeur Sanders' signature watch gesture after the Cornhuskers dominated with six sacks in their Week 2 matchup. Nebraska's defense was relentless, limiting Colorado's high-powered offense to 260 yards.
Knighton’s silent mockery, captured in a brief video, underscored the growing rivalry between the two teams. In the short video shared by KETV, Knighton turns to the camera after celebrating with the team and mocks Sanders’ flashy gesture without saying a word.
Nebraska’s defense made big plays, including a first-quarter pick-six by cornerback Tommi Hill and a forced fumble by Willis McGahee IV, recovered by Jimari Butler on the final defensive play.
On offense, Nebraska was equally strong, with 149 rushing yards and freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola passing for 185 yards on 23-of-30 completions, all while avoiding turnovers.
The Cornhuskers outgained the Buffaloes with 334 total yards, compared to Colorado’s 260. Penalties also played a role, with Colorado being flagged seven times for 80 yards, while Nebraska committed only three first-half penalties for 25 yards.
Nebraska returns to Memorial Stadium next Saturday, Sept. 14, for a home game against Northern Iowa.
Shedeur Sanders is under fire on the internet after a post-game interview
Shedeur Sanders is under fire for his actions after Colorado's Week 2 loss to Nebraska. At Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, the Buffaloes quarterback completed 23 of 38 passes for 244 yards, scoring one touchdown and throwing one interception.
After the game ended, it took six minutes for Fox's college football broadcast to show Sanders leaving the field. When asked about Colorado's run game and the need for balance on offense, Sanders responded pointedly:
“How many times did Raiola get touched?”
“He really blaming the O Line?? Really? He played like c**p.. and quit..” a fan commented.
“He's aware the daddy is coach for both side of the ball right?” one wrote.
“WTF is he talking about? Did we miss that they’d been running the ball before the game started?” another wrote.
“Ehhh I’m not putting this dude on my nfl team..” a fan wrote.
“Just blew his draft stock with that answer,” one wrote.
“When I see clips like this, it makes me think that Deion Sanders’ children do not understand really how football is played,” a fan wrote.
Unfortunately for the Buffaloes, one of Shedeur's early passes turned into a costly interception that was returned for a touchdown.
"It was a rookie mistake, honestly," Shedeur Sanders said [H/t Bleacher Report]. "Things like that just can't happen. But when it does we just gotta bounce back."
Before the season, there was buzz that Shedeur might be among the first five picks in the 2025 NFL draft.
