Colorado Buffaloes two-way talent Travis Hunter has become the face of college football in 2024 with his spectacular performances for his team every weekend. Hunter is currently the third favorite player to win the Heisman Trophy according to ESPN and is expected to be one of the most coveted players in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Off the gridiron, in a clip posted on the "Well Off Media" social media pages, someone off camera asked Hunter whether an offer of $40 million would convince him to stay in college and he jokingly acknowledged that it would.

"How much is it gonna cost to keep you here next year? 40?" the voice asked.
"40 what?" Hunter replied.
"40 million," the voice answered.
"Oh yeah, 40 million," Hunter said.

Travis Hunter addresses college vs. NFL money

After his stellar start to the season, Travis Hunter has a NIL valuation of $3.3 million, which ranks him at No. 3 in the On3 NIL 100 list and No. 2 among college football players just behind his teammate, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

During an episode of "The Travis Hunter Show," the two-way star made his thoughts on the money available in college football via NIL and the NFL clear. He used the example of UNLV Rebels quarterback Matthew Sluka, who decided to redshirt the rest of the season and is planning on entering the transfer portal after unfulfilled NIL payments when he transferred from Holy Cross last year.

"Buddy, if I'm you (Sluka), I'm trying to get to the NFL," Hunter said. "NIL can wait. I know it happened to a lot of your teammates, but I'm out there ballin' on that field. I need all of the film I can get. Every piece of bit of the film. ... It's not about the NIL, it's about the NFL."
"Because I know if I would have went to go transfer somewhere else, could have got a major amount of money, but it ain't about the money. It's about getting to the NFL. The NFL going to set you for life. NIL can only set you for a moment."
