Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter made headlines throughout the NCAA football season for his outstanding performance on both offense and defense. He is regarded as one of the best talents to enter the 2025 NFL draft.
On Friday, during an episode of "This Is Football," host Kevin Clark asked his guest, draft expert Jordan Reid about Hunter's prospects to continue his dual role.
"I would play him at corner full time, and 15 to 20 plays max as a wide receiver because I've never seen anybody play defense part time," Reid said (starts at 16:05). "I've never seen anybody play offense full time and see somebody do that from a prospect. For him, I think he's a better corner and I think he brings so much value being able to shut down half of the field."
"Then you use his freaky traits and athleticism as a receiver. And it's not just red zone and 3rd down. You put him in there. Don't let him just be a decoy. Have him in a package of plays and allow him to be him. I think Travis is the best player in this draft class but I would play him at corner at full time and then have some sort of package of plays for him as a receiver."
Travis Hunter projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL draft
Most draft experts view Travis Hunter as one of the best players in the 2025 draft class. This isn't surprising since he won the Heisman Trophy this season. However, unlike in most seasons, there isn't a unanimously agreed upon first overall pick, which will likely be determined by which team is drafting first.
If a team that needs a quarterback ends up with the first overall pick like the Cleveland Browns or Tennessee Titans, they could choose to draft Colorado's Shedeur Sanders or Miami's Cam Ward. However, if the New England Patriots end up with the first overall pick, they already have Drake Maye. So, they could draft Travis Hunter first overall.
