The Alabama Crimson Tide was defeated by the Tennessee Volunteers during Week 8 in what is the second defeat of the season for Kalen DeBoer's team.
Apart from losing the game, the Crimson Tide was accused of faking injuries in this contest.
Here is how College football fans reacted to these "injuries.".
These fans believe that something has to be done to stop this from happening.
"NCAA needs to do something about the fake injury epidemic" said this fan
"Something’s got to change!!!!!" Said another fan
This fan alleged this would never happen under former head coach Nick Saban
"Saban is having a Heart attack rn" said the fan.
Some fans placed the blame on Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin. Earlier in the season, the Rebels were also caught faking an injury.
"What in the Lane Kiffin was that?! Maybe the most pathetic fake injury performance to date!!" Said this fan
"Been making fun of Ole Miss for doing this just to watch my own team do it too." Said another fan
"Taking a page out of Ole Miss’s playbook. #pathetic" said a third fan
"Pulling an Ole Miss" said this fan
Fans suggested a penalty for those caught doing this kind of act
"I think you let it happen but the player has to remain out for 5 plays for any “injury” then it is more costly if you are faking it, if you aren’t you get a breather anyway" said this fan
"These kind of things should result in suspension of the HC" said another fan
"It should be a penalty on the coaching staff for this shit" said a third fan
What did Alabama do?
The play in question the fans are reacting about came in the third quarter of the game. During the Volunteers' drive, a member of the Alabama coaching staff seemingly told an Alabama member to fall over.
This was done to force the clock to stop, and allowed Alabama to make a substitution without a timeout.
The play was successful but was called out by College Football fans online and commentator Sean McDonagh, who said on the broadcast:
"College football needs to do something about this. The fake injury thing is an epidemic. There’s no rule against it. There’s language in the rulebook about it being unethical.”
In the end, the Crimson Tide did end up paying for this play, as they lost the game.
