Former Alabama coach Nick Saban has etched his name in college football glory. The 72-year-old recently shocked fans with his sudden retirement announcement after a tenure of seventeen years and winning six national championships with the Crimson Tide.
Saban has helped the program receive a facelift and become one of the most respected and successful programs of the modern era of college football.
Nick Saban also possessed an incredible work ethic and passion for the game, as you could usually see from his enthusiasm on the sidelines. But did you ever wonder where he got this perfectionist mindset from?
Well, it looks like the whole Saban lineage took great pride in their work and achieved perfectionism in everything they did, including Nick Saban's father.
According to the ex-Alabama coach back in 2013, for the newsmagazine show 60 Minutes, Saban's father is the reason why he likes his work done perfectly.
He talked about how, while working at his father's car service station, he had to rework something if there was even a single mistake involved in the process.
"Alabama coach Nick Saban, who annonced his retirement on Wednesday, said in 2013 he got his perfectionism from his father. Even at the family car everything had to be perfect", according to the post's caption
"If we washed a car when I worked for him at the service station and it was not done exactly perfectly correctly, he would say 'wash it again'. The Navy Blue ones and the Black ones were really hard to keep the streaks out of. A single streak, you had to do the whole car again", Saban said.
In the end, this helped Saban evolve his attention to detail during his tenure with the Crimson Tide. And it is because of this experience that he made impressive comebacks on the field through various adversities, including 2023's incredible winning streak after a week-long loss to Texas.
So one can say that Saban Sr. helped shape his son for the glory he had with the Crimson Tide.

Ex-Washington coach Kalen DeBoer replaces Nick Saban
After days of speculation and rumors about the possible successor to Saban's legacy, the program has selected Kale DeBoer as the next head coach of the Crimson Tide. DeBoer put up an impressive resume during his two-year stint with the Washington Huskies.
In the 2023 season, he led the Huskies to a Pac-12 championship and a CFP natty game against Michigan.
Despite losing the national championship game, DeBoer helped revive the status and reputation of the Huskies in the CFB world. And now, he will be expected to build on the legacy of Coach Saban in Tuscaloosa.
