On Friday, ESPN's College GameDay confirmed that Nick Saban will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame's 2025 class. The announcement was made just before Ohio State beat Texas in the College Football Playoff semifinal.
Saban was on the panel when his honor was declared, and a video clip of the moment went viral on social media. Saban's daughter Kristen saw the clip on Instagram and shared a five-word message.
"👏❤️🥹 a special moment to watch!" Kristen commented on the video that announced her father would be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Saban was moved after the historic announcement and even had a thankful message for his former teams, staff and players.
"Thank you so much." Saban said. "Anytime this happens is because you have a lot of great people in your organization. Lot of great players, lot of great coaches, lot of support staff and they made a great team. Happy drive the bus but we had a lot of great people on it."
Saban began his college coaching career at Toledo in 1990. He then spent five seasons at Michigan State from 1995–1999 before joining LSU in 2000. Saban won his first national title with the Tigers in 2004.
After a brief spell with the Miami Dolphins from 2005 to 2006, Saban returned to the college level to coach Alabama. He led the Tide to six national titles across 17 years.
Saban finished his college coaching career with a 297-71-1 record and seven national titles. He retired from coaching last January.
