Kristen Saban, the daughter of retired Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban, still passionately supports her father's old team. Ahead of a new season in which the Tide will be led by a different coach than her father for the first time in 17 years, Kristen built up hype around the group.
She posted a picture of herself on Instagram with red eyes in honor of the Crimson Tide with the caption:
"Red heart eyes because @alabamafbl returns in 18 days 😍"
Kristen Saban recently hinted on Instagram that she would consider joining a college football podcast, as she can offer unique insight into the CFB world.
Despite Kristen's enthusiasm, Nick Saban picks against Alabama
Kristen Saban might still be a diehard Alabama Crimson Tide fan, but Nick Saban is now an analyst with the SEC Network and ESPN, and he has to be impartial in his analysis of his former side.
During SEC media days, Saban picked the Texas Longhorns and coach Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs to make the SEC championship game instead of his former team. However, the iconic former sideline leader did not totally discount Alabama either.
"I think Georgia and Texas," Saban said. "But I don't think there's any team right now, or any coach that you would talk to -- including myself for many, many years -- that right now there's not some part of their team they're concerned about.
"So I really like Texas. I think Georgia has got a really good team. I believe in our Alabama team, too. I believe in Jalen Milroe. I just think the question marks in the secondary -- until those get resolved -- it's hard to, sort of, jump on that bandwagon."
The Alabama Crimson Tide are ranked No. 5 in the AP preseason poll, which was released on Monday. Stellar recruitment by their new coach indicates signs of a post-Saban boom.
