Former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban's daughter, Kristen Saban, became a staple of his 17-year tenure in Tuscaloosa. She was one of the most passionate fans of the football team, cheered for her father and defended him on social media during difficult times.
She has continued to live in Tuscaloosa even after the legendary coach's retirement. Most recently, on her Instagram stories, she teased the possibility of joining a podcast involving college football.
Kristen reposted a graphic that read:
"Y'all do not want me on a podcast, I got a whole lot to say."
The Instagram story was captioned:
"Except...We are. SOON. @vernfunqusitcfb."
Kristen Saban talked about Nick Saban's retirement on a podcast
College football fans can be sure to get exciting insights into the Saban era if Kristen were to join a podcast.
Nick Saban made the decision to retire on the day that he retired, and in various interviews, he has repeatedly said that until a few minutes into a team meeting, he had not yet made up his mind.
He kept even his family in the dark, choosing to play his cards close to the chest with his retirement decision. His daughter Kristen Saban revealed that she learned about his retirement alongside the rest of the world.
She was on a plane to Disney World with her son when the news broke on social media. She talked about it in an appearance on "The Next Round" podcast in June.
“So that morning I kind of got a little heads up. … My mom was like, ‘You know, maybe. Maybe not. But don’t be surprised if you see something.’ And later that afternoon I was on a plane to Orlando with my son to go to Disney World, and I had just bought the Southwest Wifi. And my phone is just blowing up. And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, what’s going on?’
“I’m on the plane. I can’t text anybody. I can’t call anybody. And so I’m like, ‘OK, are you doing this? Am I finding out on Instagram on my way to Disney World?"
Nick and Kristen Saban have continued to attend various Alabama events and still live in Tuscaloosa while taking part in other ventures, including the legendary coach's charity venture "Nick's Kids."
