Former Alabama coach Nick Saban's daughter, Kristen Saban, shared a throwback video of her father's famous speech on the "importance of nothing" after Vanderbilt’s shock 40-35 victory over the No. 1-ranked Crimson Tide at FirstBank Stadium.
The video showed Nick delivering an important message about life and football ahead of Alabama's game against Arkansas last year.
“You get up every day, you're entitled to... nothing," he said in his trademark style. "Nobody owes you... nothing. You could have talent, but if you don't have discipline, and you don't execute, and you don't focus, what do you get? Nothing. If you're complacent and not paying attention to detail, what does that get you?”
"Everything is determined by what you do and you trying to be your best, so that you can build on positive performance," Saban added. "That’s the only thing. There should be nothing else but that, for everybody. That’s what we have to stay focused on. It’s what we need to do. We got rained out today, so we had to go inside. We need to not accept anything but our best in terms of what we’re doing for preparation."
Vanderbilt’s offense was relentless, racking up 418 yards. Diego Pavia led the team with 252 passing yards and two touchdowns.
This win was significant for Vanderbilt’s head coach, Clark Lea, as it marked the Commodores' first victory against the Tide since 1984.
Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe also had an impressive performance, throwing for 310 yards and a touchdown while adding 45 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, analyst Paul Finebaum pointed the finger at Nick Saban. He claimed the former Alabama coach was responsible for the Week 6 debacle against Vanderbilt.

Kristen and her son, James, tuned in to watch him on GameDay from home. Kristen posted on Instagram a picture of her son watching the game. She captioned the post,
“On Saturdays, we watch PaPaw 🏈.”
When Bama went off track on Saturday's game, she shared a picture of herself on her story. She captioned it:
“Me going to bed tonight knowing I don’t have to take these games personally anymore.”
It is safe to say Alabama fans, including Kristen Saban, will take some time to get over this shock loss.
