Nick Saban's transition from coach to on-screen commentary has been a success to this point. Not only does his fame attract a lot of fans, but he is able to provide a very unique perspective on various subjects.
Golfer and friend of Saban Justin Thomas spoke on why he thinks Saban is doing so well at ESPN.
"You never know what kind of personality or side of somebody is going to come out," Thomas said. "How he would be in interviews, or how he maybe wasn't the most personable, you wouldn't wanna go up and talk to, nobody really knew how it would be.
"But I think at the end of the day, when he gets to talk about something that he loves like football, he's obviously extremely knowledgeable of it."
Justin Thomas comments on Nick Saban's calm demeanor combined with Pat McAfee's charisma
Pat McAfee has been the face of ESPN's college football programming for some time now. He's the opposite of Nick Saban as an analyst, with his larger-than-life personality. They've gone viral a few times for their contrasting behavior.
Justin Thomas mentioned how Saban's sense of humor sticks out next to McAfee's unapologetic charisma.
"I think the fact that him and Pat McAfee are next to each other is just the wildest thing ever," Justin Thomas said. "The difference of their personalities and whatnot. Some of the still pictures of the way Coach is looking over at him when Pat has some things out of his mouth, it's pretty funny."
Despite their contrasting energy, they've become very successful together.
ESPN College GameDay will be heading to Happy Valley as No. 3 Penn State takes on No. 4 Ohio State in what is arguably one of the biggest regular-season games of the year yet.
