Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders played their final game for Colorado in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday. Shedeur, who is expected to enter the NFL draft this year, gave his Buffs teammates some farewell gifts.
When he handed Hunter his wrapped present, the Heisman Trophy winner belittled it.
"Nobody want that junk bro," Hunter said. "Nobody wants that. That's trash. Gotta get sponsored by Oakley. Nah, I'm just playing." [Timestamp: 9:20]
Shedeur and Hunter were key players for Colorado in the 2024 season. They helped the Buffs finish with a 9-4 overall record. Colorado's season culminated in a 36-14 defeat against BYU in the Alamo Bowl.
Shedeur finished with 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. The quarterback also rushed for four touchdowns across 13 games.
Meanwhile, Hunter posted 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns on 96 receptions as a wideout. He also recorded 35 tackles, 11 passes defended, four interceptions and a forced fumble as a cornerback.
Hunter's versatile displays in offense and defense landed him eight major individual honors. He also won the Heisman Trophy, beating Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Miami quarterback Cam Ward and Oregon signal-caller Dillon Gabriel.
NFL legend Rod Woodson advises Travis Hunter to stick to one position if he goes pro
Pro Football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson, who played 17 years as a cornerback in the NFL, had some advice for Travis Hunter. The Super Bowl XXXV winner with the Baltimore Ravens urged the Colorado star to stick to one position if he goes pro.
"I just think if you are burning candles at both ends of the stick, he could play well, but the likelihood that he's going to be great at both, but that's not likely. Not in the National Football League," Woodson said to TMZ.
Hunter is expected to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL draft. However, it will be interesting to see if the CU star can maintain similar levels of performance on both sides of the gridiron in the big league.
