"None of us came out here to lose": 5-star USC QB commit Julian Lewis on the 'mindset' of players at Elite 11 following Pro Day champ honor

Julian Lewis, a five-star quarterback who has committed to USC, has opened up on his mindset at the Elite 11, which is a premier quarterback camp. Out of the 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL, 27 attended the camp.

Lewis is the third-ranked quarterback in the class of 2025 and is ranked as the 16th-best player in the nation, according to 247Sports.

Lewis was named Pro Day champion for the day and after he was given the award, he was asked about his mindset on attending a camp like this with all the top quarterbacks.

"I missed balls of course, it is kind of hard throwing balls to guys you've never been around. But, overall there is something I could take out of everything, everybody misses balls, I'm blessed to be out here...," Lewis said.

"All of us come in confident. All of us can throw, all of us know what we can do. I think everybody came out here with the same mindset, none of us came out here to lose anything. Even though it is a learning experience, it is always competition," Lewis added.

In 2023, Lewis went 11-2 as a starter, going 186-for-280 for 3,094 yards along with 48 touchdowns and just two interceptions.

Lewis has committed to USC, but he still has been visiting schools like Auburn and Colorado.

Julian Lewis says he committed to USC because of head coach Lincoln Riley. Lewis has looked at Riley's track record with quarterbacks and believes he is the best fit for his development.

"I chose USC for Coach Riley, Coach Riley has had a long run with quarterbacks,” Lewis said. He's had a good thing with all the Heisman trophies and stuff like that. That's hard to skip over as a quarterback. That's what got me."

Of course, Riley's last quarterback was Caleb Williams, who was drafted first overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2024 NFL draft. He also won the Heisman Trophy in 2022.

Along with Williams, Riley has also coached Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray, both of whom won the Heisman, which played a key role in Lewis committing to USC.

Lewis is set to enter his senior season of high school and could compete for the Trojans starting QB job as a freshman in 2025.
