The Roadrunners opened the game in dominant fashion, outscoring North Texas 14-0 in the first quarter. After an exchange of punts, UTSA scored their first touchdown of the game with an eight-play, 49-yard drive. The Roadrunners then forced an interception on the ensuing drive before capitalizing with a 51-yard touchdown pass from Owen McCown to David Amador II.
North Texas forced a turnover on downs before Shane Porter scampered 79 yards for a touchdown to cut UTSA's lead to 14-7 in the opening moments of the second quarter. The Roadrunners responded with a 14-play, 75-yard drive capped off by a seven-yard touchdown reception from Dan Dishman, extending their lead to 21-7.

North Texas responded with yet another touchdown drive, cutting the lead to 33-27. UTSA held North Texas scoreless for the remainder of the game, punching in two touchdowns to clinch a 48-27 win.
