Under Deion Sanders, the No. 23 Colorado Buffaloes finished their regular season on a high (9-3, 7-2 Big 12). They will play the Alamo Bowl against the No. 17 BYU Cougars on December 28th.
Colorado is one of the most talked about teams as two top five picks could come from the team. Two-way star Travis Hunter is expected to go first overall. Shedeur Sanders and Miami quarterback Cam Ward are expected to be the first two quarterbacks drafted in the 2025 NFL draft.
Miami insider Nevin Shapiro spoke about which potential teams could draft each quarterback.
"I'm being told through reliable sources, Cam Ward is going to the New York Giants, guaranteed and the University of Miami's offensive coordinator is going with him, Shannon Dawson," Shapiro said. "I'm gonna tell you from what's been shared with me. Deion won't let his kid go to the Giants, so right away whether Shedeur is the better quarterback or not, that's not for me to decide.
"And Pat Knows how this thing goes, you can be like this with a guy but they like your personality a little better than the next guy. You could be the same talent, they're going with that guy. So Deion's not letting his kid go to New York, he wants him on the Raiders. The Giants are taking Cam Ward."
Would Deion Sanders follow Shedeur Sanders to the NFL?
While Shedeur Sanders is heading to the NFL next season, there have been rumors that Deion Sanders will also take up a coaching job with the NFL, probably with the team that drafts his son. However, insider Jordan Schultz reported in mid-November that Coach Prime hasn't engaged in any talks for an NFL coaching gig and is rather focused on improving the Colorado Buffaloes.
Earlier, Sanders' former Cowboys teammate, Michael Irvin, appeared on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" podcast and said that he believes Coach Prime would accept a position with the Cowboys if they drafted Shedeur Sanders. This contradicts what Sanders has said publicly.
However, Deion Sanders said that he is happy in Colorado.
"I'm happy where I am, man. I've got a kickstand down," he said in Novemeber. "You know what a kickstand is? ... That means I'm resting. I'm good, I'm happy, I'm excited. I'm enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here, truly do. We ain't going nowhere. We're about to get comfortable."
With Shedeur Sanders leaving, Deion will have his replacement in Julian Lewis who flipped from USC to his program. He is the nation's No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 class.
