Louis Riddick, a former NFL safety and current broadcaster, has been in the news lately as a possible NFL front-office hire in the offseason. Several people in the football world have come out in support of Riddick. Most notably, Coach Prime made a post on X on Thursday in support of him:

"Jets Please don’t mess this up and I pray this was a real interview and not that other thang y’all do. This man deserves a REAL CHANCE! He is knowledge & Class personified!"

However, Coach Prime was not the last football personality to support Louis Riddick publically. Stephen A. Smith, who is known for his bold personality and hot takes while hosting "First Take" on ESPN, also tweeted his support for Riddick. He responded to Coach Prime's tweet on Saturday:

"Amen. Deion Sanders is right on the money with this. It’s doesn’t get much better than Louis Riddick Brilliant Football Mind. Ultra high integrity. Class personified. And big on accountability. The New York Jets better not mess this up."

The New York Jets interviewed Louis Riddick to be their next general manager

If Riddick is hired as a general manager, it would not be the first time he is involved with an NFL front office. However, it would be his first time in a decision-making position. He previously held various positions in the scouting department of the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles from 2001 to 2013. Since then he has been a broadcaster.

However, it looks like he could be leaving TV screens to advance his management career. It was reported that the New York Jets interviewed Louis Riddick for their GM position on Thursday. However, he is just one of several candidates who have been interviewed for the position.

Riddick was also interviewed by the Detroit Lions and Houston Texans in the 2020 offseason. However, both teams opted to go in different directions.

It will be interesting to see if the outside support from people like Deion Sanders and Stephen A. Smith will give Riddick a bigger chance of getting hired. It is unclear how much ownership and management groups factor public sentiment into their decision-making process. Regardless, a decision will likely not be made by the Jets for several weeks, if not longer.
