Miller Moss explains why he stayed at USC
After serving as Caleb Williams' backup for two seasons, a lot of fans expected Miller Moss to hit the transfer portal and continue his career elsewhere. However, the situation changed following his performance in the Holiday Bowl, and he decided to stay with the Trojans.
“There are obviously a bunch of contributing factors," Moss said. "I think at any given time or inflection point, staying at USC was always the best decision for me, my career, and my family.
“I think I have a tremendous appreciation for this university. It places a ton of value in the development and playing in the room with Coach Riley. So I think I got to be around phenomenal people, not only coaches but staff, teachers, just the university as a whole."
Two games into the 2024 college football season, Moss has shown he's got all it takes to be a perfect replacement for Williams, who is now in the NFL with the Chicago Bears.
Miller believes USC is still a long way to the desired standard
Following the disappointment of the 2023 season, not many gave USC a chance in 2024. However, the Trojans have started the season on a brilliant note, and Moss offered insight into the team's identity and how they maintain their focus in his appearance on SportsCenter.
”We worked really hard throughout the offseason to establish that identity," Moss said. "And I think in part we showed that. I think obviously we've got a long way to go, a long way to go in terms of doing that, but I think we kind of showed the first pieces of who we wanna be as a team.”
Miller Moss has so far thrown for 607 yards and two touchdowns in two games this season. His performance so far has made many consider USC a strong contender for a spot in the expanded College Football Playoff.
