Ohio State HC Ryan Day quotes former QB C.J. Stroud while discussing pressures of being Buckeyes’ coach 

Ryan Day has been the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes since 2019. The first two seasons were successful for Day as he led the program to consecutive Big Ten titles and a playoff berth. During the 2020 season, Ohio State also made it to the national championship game where they lost to Nick Saban's Alabama.

But over the last two years, Day has struggled to find the same momentum and achieve the same level of success with the Buckeyes. While speaking with Joel Klatt on his podcast, "The Joel Klatt Show" recently, Day talked about the high expectations that fans have from him and the program.

Day then went on to quote his former quarterback C.J. Stroud while talking about how this pressure of expectation is a good way to fuel the fire to be successful:

"C.J. Stroud says it the best. He says, 'Pressure is a privilege.' And that means you're relevant. And that's kind of the way I've always lived my life is that you want it on line and it is on line every week here, it's on the line every day here. That's just how it goes," Day said.

"And so we bring in guys who want it that way, we bring in players that want it that way. Because we know how much it means to so many people in the state of Ohio. Every year you identify the things you got to enhance. Every year you learn from the year before and then the things you have to tweak and change, you have to do that," he added.

Last season, Ryan Day secured an 11-2 overall campaign with Ohio State. They failed to make it to the Big 10 championship game and a playoff berth and succumbed to a 3-14 loss to Missouri in the Cotton Bowl Classic as well.

CFB analyst believes Ryan Day's Ohio State has talent necessary to succeed in 2024

This offseason, the Buckeyes brought in several new talents to revamp their roster for their upcoming campaign. With the addition of players like Caleb Downs, Will Howard and others, CFB analyst Greg McElroy believes that the program should have a successful campaign in 2024:

"They [Ohio State] obviously have a high ceiling. They also have a crazy high floor. This is a team that absolutely cannot disappoint this year. They can't. It's almost impossible. Look at the additions they made this year in the offseason. Whether it's at offensive coordinator at No. 2 two or No. 1 running back. ...This is a team that just flat out can't disappoint," McElroy said.
