Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders did not have his best performance of the season during the Buffaloes' 36-14 blowout loss to the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28. After the game, the discourse turned towards the quarterback's NFL future via the NFL Draft. Shedeur has been tabbed as the top pick in the latest mock ESPN Draft.
During Tuesday's segment of his "2Legendary" podcast, the NFL-bound star responded to his brother, Deion Sanders Jr.'s claims about black quarterbacks getting trash-talked before the NFL Draft.
"Bro, what do you expect bro?" Shedeur Sanders said. "That's the thing bro, at this point in life bro, what we are, been through, encountered and seen, just from year to year and the small challenges that we've had to face, of people saying, 'We can't do this or we're not doing this.' [9:00]
"A lot of the people just try to play mind games with you and try to and play you out of your position and only fools would fall for that type of stuff 'cause how are you gonna tell me what I am or what I am not, you know what I mean?"
He continued:
"People said Travis (Hunter) couldn't play offense and defense in college at a Power 5. He did that and he dominated and now you know they gotta move the goalposts and not give you your flowers while you're still there.
"Bro, I'm not here to appease people. I'm not here to prove that I'm a great guy or just prove anything outside of what I am. At the end of the day, they're gonna like me as a person when they get to know me as a person rather than just looking at the headlines."
Shedeur Sanders addresses NFL future
The NFL regular season came to an end last weekend and the teams with the top three picks are the Tennessee Titans, the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants.
During Tuesday's segment of the "2Legendary" podcast, Shedeur Sanders, who has been linked with both the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders, addressed whether he had a preferred destination.
“Honestly, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, and what’s meant to happen, it’s going to happen," Shedeur Sanders said. "I don’t feel like God will ever put me in a place I’m not supposed to go. We made it everywhere that we went and been successful, so like that’s the thing, bro.
"I’m not paying attention to people or what these people saying … I’m happy of the order and whatever happens, because I know at the end of the day, God gonna put me on the right team.”
His father, Deion Sanders, has reiterated several times that he would be involved in his son's draft future.
