The Texas Longhorns' undefeated streak was broken by Georgia at their home field in Week 8. Kirby Smart's Bulldogs pulled off a 30-15 victory on Saturday, which was also their first game in Austin since 1958.

During this SEC showdown, a controversial pass interference call was made by the officials in the third quarter. This situation led to many Longhorns fans throwing debris and bottles on the field, after which the call was once again revised. This ultimately led to it working out in their favor, much to the dismay of Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.

The SEC fined the Longhorns $250,000, after which the team also issued a formal apology for the incident. College football insider Brett McMurphy shared a tweet concerning alcohol sales privileges for Steve Sarkisian's team.

"Now it's getting serious for Texas. SEC says it "is not suspending alcohol sales privileges for the University of Texas at this time but reserves the right to do so if other requirements are not met," McMurphy tweeted.

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts and perspectives on the decision taken by the SEC. One fan had a rather witty take on the situation.

"Or the SEC can hire competent refs"

Another fan believes that the Longhorns could switch to other options for food and beverage supplies during football games.

"They could do donuts and chocolate milk like BYU?"

This fan said that if the SEC bans alcohol sales, this would affect the attendance during the Longhorns games at home.

"You'll be able to hear a pin drop in that stadium with how empty it would be if they banned alcohol sales."

Another fan suggested that the Longhorns should go back to the Big 12 conference.

"Is sending Texas back to the Big 12 on the table?"

One fan believes that the Longhorns fan can showcase better behavior during games.

"How embarrassing! What's wrong with us Texas? We are classier than that!!!"

This fan stated that even if alcohol sales were banned, fans would figure out how to bring it into the stadium.

"Texas fans would still find a way to get alcohol into the stadium."

Texas issues apology to Kirby Smart's Georgia

After the unsporting act caused by Longhorns fans, the program issued a formal apology to the Bulldogs and officials on Sunday.

Texas Board of Regents chairman Kevin Eltife, UT president Jay Hartzell and athletic director Chris Del Conte issued a statement:

"While we deeply appreciate the passion and loyalty of our fanbase at the University of Texas at Austin, we do not condone the unsportmanlike conduct that was exhibited by some individuals throwing objects onto the field during last night's game and sincerely apologize to the University of Georgia players, coaches and fans, as well as the Southeastern Conference and officiating crew. This type of behavior will not be tolerated." [via ESPN].

The SEC wants the school to analyze and reassess its alcohol policies during games. This will prevent such incidents during games in the future.
