Dillon Gabriel thankful for Heisman Trophy nomination

In addition to being named a Heisman Trophy finalist, Dillon Gabriel was also named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.

During Tuesday's interview with the National Football Foundation, Gabriel expressed his excitement at being nominated for the Heisman Trophy alongside Colorado's Travis Hunter, Boise State's Ashton Jeanty and Miami's Cam Ward.

"I was in the car, had ESPN rolling with the crew that we had coming here. It was a good time," Gabriel said. "Everyone was excited. A couple of Facetime calls as well. Appreciative of everyone coming together and being part of that.
"Crazy. It was definitely an honor. If you are there, you did something great. I know I have a special group to play with, and I am excited to represent them [in New York City]."

Dillon Gabriel finished the season with 3,558 yards on 73.2% completion, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions, as well as 192 yards rushing and seven touchdowns.

The Oregon quarterback led the Ducks to an unbeaten season (13-0) which includes a Big Ten championship title, the No. 1 seed in the college football playoffs and a first-round bye.

A meeting against either the Ohio State Buckeyes or the Tennessee Volunteers in the Rose Bowl is up next for the Ducks who have the best odds (+350) to win the national championship.
