The Ohio State Buckeyes followed a dominant first-round win over the Tennessee Volunteers with an equally commanding performance against the Oregon Ducks in the Rose Bowl on Wednesday. Ohio State defeated Oregon 41-21 to improve to 12-2 on the season, keeping their College Football Playoff hopes alive.

On Thursday, College Gameday analyst Pat McAfee praised the Buckeyes and offensive line coach Justin Frye after initially picking the Ducks to win the Rose Bowl.

"Justin Frye, that offensive line coach," McAfee began before former Ohio State linebacker and Pat McAfee Show cohost A.J. Hawk chimed in.
"He was pretty jacked up on the sidelines," Hawk said. "We got great clips of him instantly as he's telling you to keep talking. He was trying to find you everytime they had an explosive play."
"I think some of those Ohio State Buckeye coaches were like, 'I thought we were very nice to you. We watch your show. A.J.'s on the show, it feels like we're a part of it, and you just go out there and say, yeah the Oregon Ducks.' I felt it," McAfee said.

McAfee and Desmond Howard both picked the Ducks to beat the Buckeyes on College GameDay prior to Ohio State’s blowout win.

Ohio State racked up 500 yards of total offense against Oregon without committing a turnover. The Buckeyes jumped out to a 34-0 lead before cruising to victory in the second half. Their defense sacked Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel eight times and held Oregon to 28 carries for minus-23 rushing yards.

Ohio State advances to Cotton Bowl

The Buckeyes will next face the Texas Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl. Texas defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils 39-31 in a double-overtime Peach Bowl thriller.

The Cotton Bowl will be a hostile environment for Ohio State, as it kicks off at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, roughly four hours north of DKR Texas Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes enter the matchup as six-point favorites over the Longhorns.

The winner of the Cotton Bowl will advance to the College Football Playoff National Championship, where they will face the winner of the Orange Bowl. In that game, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will take on the Penn State Nittany Lions.
