Pat McAfee has quickly become a fan favorite after turning to broadcasting after retirement. The former Indianapolis Colts punter is part of the College Game Day team, a role he has quickly made a name for himself with.
This week, Game Day was in Columbia, South Carolina, to cover the game between the Gamecocks and the No. 16-ranked LSU Tigers in one of the standout games of the weekend.
During the show, McAfee would hold up a Gamecock and lead the crowd, chanting the university's team.
These kinds of antics have become almost synonymous with McAfee on TV, be it on College Game Day or when he is commentating in the WWE. He represents a more exciting watch for fans and is the complete opposite of his peers, like Kirk Herbstreit and Michael Cole, both known for a more grounded and calm approach to the broadcast.
The Gamecocks fans do have a lot to cheer about. They have started the season with a perfect 2-0 record. Last week, South Carolina was able to dominate over fellow SEC program the Kentucky Wildcats 31-6. In this game, the Wildcats were held to only 44 yards of offense.
This good run of form has come when their opponents have struggled. While LSU won last week against FCS program Nicholls State, the Tigers let up 21 points, which is inexcusable for an SEC program of LSU's caliber. Their offense has also struggled at times, with quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and his teammates struggling to meet the lofty standards of previous LSU offenses.
These factors combine to make the meeting between the Tigers and Gamecocks a must-watch and a game where the Gamecocks fans could be cheering for a lot of it.
Pat McAfee and the College Game Day team have steaks
Apart from holding up a gamecock, McAfee and the rest of the College Game Day team were seen earlier in the broadcast enjoying steaks.
McAfee is seen to do most of the eating, while his co-hosts, including former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban, talk over each other, mostly about how good the steaks are.
This is all part of the College Game Day experience. It is a show where viewers can get all the information they need about the days action from the experts, alongside Pat McAfee having fun.
