Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss Rebels lost their second game of the season last weekend. The 29-26 defeat to the LSU Tigers is likely to have a large impact on their chances of making the College Football Playoffs.

On Wednesday, college football analyst Paul Finebaum gave his verdict on whether the Rebels make the playoffs this season.

"Ole Miss has one game on the schedule that I think will do them in, even assuming they’re not done in already," Finebaum said on The Matt Barrie Show.

The remaining schedule is not forgiving. They are on a rest week this week, but when they return, things will continue to be difficult for them.

If they are not already out of contention now, one more defeat will definitely remove them from the playoff conversation.

This means that the Rebels will need to win the rest of their games if they want to be in a conversation for either the 11th or 12 spot in the new playoff format.

However, on November 9, the Rebels face the Georgia Bulldogs in a game that Finebaum believes will be important for both programs:

"Because that Kentucky loss is now looking nasty. They have to deal with Georgia — a win against Georgia, and depending on where Georgia is, but Georgia very likely is going to have to win that game, too.”

The Bulldogs are currently a one-loss team and could become a two-loss side after this weekend when they face the No. 1 ranked Texas Longhorns.

Georgia is at the moment the stronger team, so if the Bulldogs arrive in Oxford with two losses, expect the Rebels to be playing for pride.

Could Lane Kiffin leave Ole Miss and go to the Florida Gators?

With Ole Miss struggling and their season hanging by the thread, there have been repeated calls for their coach, Lane Kiffin, to leave the program at the end of the season.

These calls have not come from Ole Miss fans, but rather from fans of the Florida Gators.

Before the season began, Kiffin was heavily linked with the Gators, replacing struggling coach Billy Napier.

While Napier's future with the Gators is still unknown, the team sits at 3-3 (1-2 SEC).

But they are about to face a selection of some of the SEC's best teams, playing the likes of Georgia, Texas, LSU, and Ole Miss.

This is likely to bring to a close Napier's tenure as the Gators coach, especially as it has been reported that the school's boosters have raised enough funds to facilitate his firing.

With Napier out and Kiffin struggling to live up to the high expectations that were placed on the Rebels this season, there could be a possibility that the Ole Miss coach leaves Oxford for Gainsville.
