Analyst Paul Finebaum has said that Nick Saban might not have too much patience as he prepares for his new role in college football. Seven-time national championship winner Saban ended his 28-year-long coaching career on Jan. 10, 2024 after Alabama's disappointing 27-20 loss to Jim Harbaugh's Michigan.

Coach Saban has opened up about the factors leading to his decision to retire and said that he didn't like how the players reacted following their national championship loss.

Following his retirement, Saban has taken on a new role as an ESPN analyst. He made his first two appearances during the 2024 NFL draft and SEC Media Days, where he was hilariously denied entry for not having the right credentials with him.

During a conversation with Greg McElroy, Paul Finebaum gave his insights on Nick Saban's new job:

“I think he’ll enjoy it because, as you know Greg, it goes right to the core of who he is. It’s preparation. It’s delivery. Nick Saban is eminently prepared for what he’s about to do.
"He will be the most prepared person in television — maybe other than Greg. He will be meticulous. He’ll be analytical at a level that we’ve never seen or heard before."

Finebaum continued:

“The issue is, and we’ve all been there, where we have to sit and listen to people patiently, sometimes intelligently, and sometimes they’re rambling about things which they don’t really know very much about or haven’t been paying attention.
"I think that would be the frustrating level. … I don’t know if Saban will follow that and will be as patient as we were.”

A look at Nick Saban's life post-retirement outside work

Nick Saban has been enjoying his time as a retired coach by doing the things he didn't get to do before owing to his tight schedule.

Saban's love for golf is widely known, so following his retirement, the former coach has pursued his passion, as he's seen making appearances in golfing events like the WM Phonix Open Pro-Am.

The former coach is also seen spending his time with his family, as shared by his daughter, Kristen Saban, during the Fourth of July celebrations.

Along with Miss Terry and Kristen Saban, the seven-time national champ was also accompanied by his son Nicholas, daughter-in-law Samira Saban and their two cousins Abbey and Casey Campbell.

In another slider, coach Saban was seen enjoying a fun game of corn hole, which he apparently lost as his son's win was excitedly celebrated by Samira.

The legendary coach seems to be enjoying his post-retirement life while also retaining a connection with the sport via his job as an analyst.
