Livvy Dunne gets frustrated when people don't recognize her as a gymnast
Growing up in Hillsdale, Livvy Dunne set her sights straight, as she had been training as a gymnast since her preteen years. Her mother homeschooled her in 2016 so that she could participate in international and national competitions.
She was accepted at LSU with a full athletic scholarship and was a successful athlete. However, Dunne missed out on various social events because of her commitments to gymnastics.
She said, as per Flaunt:
“I wouldn’t be able to go on field trips or the prom. I had a hard time going to the gym most days...There are always times when you want to quit. I just feel like that’s part of being an athlete at a top level.”
As she started to become a star in her own right, she also gained rapid fame on social media platforms. Despite her large social media following and being a popular face in the world of college sports, Dunne does not like that many recognize her as a mere social media influence when she's an athlete first.
“It definitely is frustrating at times,” she says. “The worst part is that people think gymnastics is easy when it’s not. The job is to make it look beautiful and easy. You’re not doing it right if it looks hard...The social media aspect of it—I worked really hard to get to where I am in building my personal brand, and it didn’t happen in the blink of an eye. It didn’t happen in just a year.”
Livvy Dunne will be back at LSU for the fifth and final season of college gymnastics. Will you keep an eye out for her? Let us know your answer in the discussion box.
