Michigan Wolverines running back Blake Corum is one of the best players on the board during the 2024 NFL draft Day 2. He is expected to be a hotly contested pick.
Relaxing away from the vagaries of the draft, Corum spent a day out with Makiah Shipps, his longtime girlfriend. He shared pictures of the couple riding ATVs and having fun on Instagram.
Shipps is a social justice and youth advocate who studies public policy analysis at the University of Michigan. She has written a book titled "Makiah's Show and Tell." She has been dating Corum for two years now.
Blake Corum and the NFL Draft
Blake Corum had a sensational season for the Michigan Wolverines. He rushed for 1,245 yards and 27 touchdowns and led coach Jim Harbaugh's team to the national championship unbeaten.
With that college football resume to back him, he should probably be higher in the NFL Draft boards but he will be 24 years old when the new NFL season starts in a few months accounting for his ranking.
Popular NFL analyst Greg Cosell recently appeared and spoke on the "Ross Tucker Podcast." He likened Blake Corum to explosive New York Giants running back Devin Singletary.
"He's a fun watch," Cosell said. "Corum to me, knows how to run. He has a great feel for understanding his blocking scheme, understanding how gaps change when the ball snaps, understanding defensive flow ... He has a great natural feel for all that, he's just not particularly athletic when it comes to running the football."
"But he just knows how to run. Two guys popped into my head…Devin Singletary and Kyren Williams."
Per Bleacher Report's big board, Corum is the No. 6 running back in this year's draft.
ESPN's Dan Graziano revealed that Corum's former Michigan coach, Jim Harbaugh, will try to pursue him on the NFL draft Day 2. He will look to fit him into offensive coordinator Greg Roman's precise running offense.
"No running backs are expected to go in the first round, and there's a great variety of opinion on which one will be the first back selected this year," Graziano wrote.
"I've spoken to scouts from multiple teams who think Michigan's Blake Corum might be the best of the bunch and believe Jim Harbaugh's Chargers will do what it takes to make sure he's reunited with his college coach."
The Los Angeles Chargers lost running back Austin Ekeler in the off-season. Per the report, Harbaugh sees Corum as the ideal candidate to fill that hole.
