Retired Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban has been making waves with his insightful views as an analyst on ESPN's "College GameDay." He has settled seamlessly into a cast that includes revered analysts like Pat McAfee, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit.
Off the field, Saban's daughter Kristen Saban has been receiving exclusive pictures from her father's co-workers from the set of the show. She recently posted on her Instagram story a picture she received from Herbstreit of his dog Ben.
She captioned the picture:
"When Ter sends pics from Oklahoma of Ben @kirkherbstreit," Kristen wrote.
Ben is the oldest of Kirk Herbstreit's four golden retrievers and became renowned in college football due to his appearances on the set of "College GameDay" last season and most famously for starring in a spectacle at Sanford Stadium before the Georgia Bulldogs faced off against the Ole Miss Rebels.
Herbstreit even started a viral video trend called "Walks with Ben" where he interviews famous personalities while on a walk with his dog.
Nick Saban enjoying his College GameDay role
When Nick Saban unexpectedly retired in January, the announcement took both fans and analysts by surprise and the lingering question was what was next for the legendary coach.
After his retirement, he took on a role as an analyst for ESPN's beloved pregame show "College GameDay," "The Pat McAfee Show" and the SEC Network which has had resounding success with his analysis well-received.
He has also had several viral moments with McAfee. A video from earlier in the season showed the charismatic analyst dancing while Nick Saban sat still looking uncomfortable.
Nick Saban later clarified that he was in fact in tune with McAfee and they showed it on the set of "College GameDay" when his co-host fed him a tomahawk steak on live television.
Over the past few weeks, Saban, who was known for being a tough nut to crack as a coach, has shown a different dimension as an analyst.
Last weekend when "College GameDay" went to Columbia for the South Carolina Gamecocks clash against the LSU Tigers, famous country musician Darius Rucker performed his hit song "Wagon Wheel" and the former Alabama coach was seen on camera signing along.
After the performance, Saban shared the significance of the song to him.
"Every Saturday night we had a karaoke party at our house in recruiting, and the No. 1 requested song was 'Wagon Wheel,'" Nick Saban said.
College football fans are having a blast seeing the fun side of Saban as he has embarked on the next phase of his life post-retirement.
