Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter signed off in style, leading the Buffaloes to an eye-catching 52-0 blowout win against the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the regular season finale. After an interception in the first quarter of the game, Hunter hit the familiar Heisman pose that was seared into the minds of college football fans. He finished the game with 116 receiving yards on 10 catches for three touchdowns.
The campaign for Hunter's Heisman win has divided college football as he battles against Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty. Even professionals from other sports are getting involved.
On Tuesday, the Denver Nuggets posted an Instagram picture of $80 million worth DeAndre Jordan (as per Celebrity Net Worth) wearing a Hunter "He12man" T-shirt.
The post was captioned:
"HE12MAN."
Travis Hunter gets Heisman hype from NFL pros
Before the Denver Broncos defeated the Cleveland Browns 41-32 on Monday Night Football, Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II and wide receiver Courtland Sutton warmed up with T-shirts with the popular Travis Hunter Heisman pose on.
During his postgame news conference, Sutton was full of praise for the Heisman-contending Hunter, highlighting the qualities that make him a special player.
“To see Travis Hunter doing what he’s been doing at Colorado, I mean, the kid is special,” Sutton said. “He is the epitome of an athlete. Shoot, he goes out there and plays 120 snaps a game offensively and defensively, and he thrives on both sides of the ball.
"It’s fun to watch him play. Whenever they play, it’s like, ‘Alright, what did Travis Hunter do today? How many touchdowns did he have? How many interceptions did he have?”
Sutton further claimed the 2024 Heisman race has become so enticing that NFL players follow the individual players' progress after college football weekends.
“We have debates about this all the time in the locker room: Who’s going to win the Heisman? It’s just really hard to take it away from a guy who has been dominant — not just playing both sides of the ball, but has been dominant on both sides of the ball,” Sutton said.
Hunter finished the season with 1,152 receiving yards on 92 receptions resulting in 14 touchdowns. Defensively, he tallied 11 passes defended, 20 solo tackles, one forced fumble and four interceptions.
According to FanDuel, Travis Hunter is priced at -10,000 to win the Heisman Trophy ahead of his main rival Ashton Jeanty who is priced at +3,000. The two stars comprise two-thirds of the likeliest podium in New York on Dec. 14.
