Jimmy Horn Jr. began his collegiate career back in 2021. Coming out of Seminole High School, the wide receiver initially committed to play for the South Florida Bulls in the AAC conference. As a freshman, Horn recorded 408 yards and one touchdown receiving.
After two seasons with South Florida, Jimmy Horn Jr. joined the Colorado Buffaloes when Deion Sanders took over as the head coach last season. In his debut Buffs campaign, Horn put up 567 yards and six touchdowns receiving to help his team put up a 4-8 campaign. This season, the Buffs managed to put up a 9-3 record at the end of the regular season.
Jimmy Horn Jr. and the Buffs will take on BYU in the Alamo Bowl on December 28. And the WR has a plan to get out on the field for his first and last bowl game in style.
A shared a joint post on social media showcasing his cleats that he will be wearing for the Bowl game.
"Jimmy Horn Jr. @j5fleezy custom cleats for Colorado’s Bowl Game Tomorrow. Titled Last Lap, a push toward a goal—one that honors the past, remembers those lost, and perseverance."
The cleats have Colorado's black and gold color combination. Apart from this, Horn Jr. also has 'Last Lap' written on his shoes, indicating that the Bowl game will be his final collegiate football showdown.
This season has been a roller coaster ride for the Colorado wide receiver. His constant battles with nagging injuries had a drastic effect on his playing time. However, Horn has been feeling pretty healthy after rehabilitating from his injuries and preparing for the Valero Alamo Bowl.
"I'm just thankful and blessed for this opportunity to be in a bowl game," Jimmy Horn Jr. said. "I've been feeling pretty good. The way I go through it, I go to treatment every day, you know. Just got to show up and get the treatment for my body, so I can go out there and perform."
Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders hypes up Jimmy Horn Jr. ahead of Alamo Bowl showdown despite injury battles
On Thursday, Shedeur Sanders met with the press during an interview ahead of Colorado's Alamo Bowl showdown against BYU. Coach Prime's son has had an incredible final collegiate campaign, winning the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and helping the Buffs qualify for the Bowl game.
While speaking with the press, Shedeur talked about Jimmy Horn Jr. and his potential on the field. The QB stated that it was sad to see Horn navigate through his injuries but considers him to be a great talent on the gridiron.
"Jimmy Horn is definitely fast," Shedeur said. "I'm really disappointed right now cause Jimmy was playing through a lot of injuries this year, so I take that personal that he wasn't able to get the numbers and able to do what he was suppose to do."
"He hasn't been able to show his best yet. So maybe it's not, you know, the perfect time right now for him to hit his peak. Maybe it's, you know, year three or year four in the league. You know, we were on the same team for him to really maximize his full potential. But he's not able to get open. He's able to when he's healthy."
This season, Jimmy Horn Jr. could only tally a total of 434 yards and one touchdown receiving. It will be interesting to see if he can end his collegiate career with a successful display of performance in the Valero Alamo Bowl against BYU.
