Shedeur Sanders is set to lead Colorado into another huge game. The Buffaloes face a tricky challenge as they welcome Cincinnati to Boulder in a Week 9 encounter. A win for Colorado will seal bowl qualification for the program, the first under Deion Sanders.

Ahead of the game at Folsom Field, Shedeur Sanders was spotted in a dapper pink Nike DT Max 96 cleat during his pregame warmup. The striking color was easily noticeable on the field and it sees him becoming a part of a story started long ago by his father.

The Nike Diamond Turf is Deion Sanders’ signature sneakers. The story started during his NFL days with the Dallas Cowboys as Nike signed him. Despite a fallout years ago, a reunion happened in 2023 ahead of Sanders’ first season at Colorado.

History of the Nike Air DT MAX 96

The Nike Air DT Max ’96, also known as the Diamond Turf 3, was the third signature sneaker Deion Sanders released with Nike. Famously worn by him during the mid-1990s as a member of the Dallas Cowboys, it became an iconic shoe in both the worlds of football and fashion.

Originally hitting shelves in 1996, the sneaker stood out for its design and innovation, incorporating visible Max Air cushioning in the midsole for enhanced comfort and performance. The shoe's styling and functionality mirrored Sanders' flashy, dominant presence as a dual-sport athlete in both football and baseball.

This year, the sneaker edition has been released in three colorways. These include Varsity Maize, Colorado Home and Vegas Gold. Three more colorways - Dirty Bird, Letter to Connie and Momma Prime - are expected before the end of the year.

Shedeur Sanders leads the 2025 QB1 race

The projections of the first quarterback off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft have generated a lot of debate. While there's no clear choice yet, Shedeur Sanders currently leads the race, according to many analysts and draft experts. Heisman winner Johnny Manziel also feels the same.

“Shedeur is obviously going to be a guy that’s going to be looked at and probably be the top quarterback coming off the board this year,” Manziel said during a recent episode of the "Big Bets on Campus Podcast."

“He’s played well for what he’s around him at times, he had guys out this week, and he still continues to find a way to put up good numbers and play really well.”

However, in some quarters, Cam Ward is considered ahead of Shedeur Sanders for 2025 QB1. The Miami signal-caller has caught attention with his performance this season and he is one of the frontrunners for the Heisman Trophy.
