Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter and Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty the main contenders for the Heisman trophy this season. According to FanDuel, Hunter remains the favorite to win the award at -850 while Jeanty is the second favorite at +550.

While the Heisman race has been dubbed a two-man contest, Dan Patrick had his own unique take on the situation. On his show this week, Patrick talked about how he felt that Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders was more deserving of the Heisman because of his contributions to the team on offense.

Sanders has tallied a total of 3,488 yards and 30 touchdowns passing. This has helped the Buffs put up an 8-3 record heading into their final regular season game against Oklahoma State.

"I still think Shedeur Sanders," Patrick said. "If I'm voting today, I would give him more credit because what he's done at the quarterbacking position. Like he's been this steady person there. That offensive line is not good at all. Travis Hunter might be the most talented player in college football. I'll grant you that." (2:35 onwards)

Dan Patrick also talked about Ashton Jeanty's chances of winning the Heisman. He talked about how the RB lacks that 'Heisman' moment this season because he is playing in the Mountain West conference for Boise State.

"Ashton Jeanty has had a wonderful year. The problem is he plays for Boise State. He hasn't had a standalone game. He plays on Friday at noon on FOX."
"He needs a Heisman moment, and I don't know if he's going to get it. But he has 2,000 rushing yards, they're in the playoffs.... Ashton Jeanty has Boise State with a first-round bye. You got factor that in." (2:50 onwards).

Ashton Jeanty has broken Boise State's single-season rushing record by tallying a total of 2,062 yards and 27 touchdowns rushing. The Broncos are also in the Mountain West championship game and will be looking to qualify for the new 12-team playoffs this season.

Shedeur Sanders has his own take on how both Ashton Jeanty and Travis Hunter could emerge as winners

The Colorado QB has openly showcased his support for Travis Hunter as the 2024 Heisman winner. However, he also recognizes the impact that Jeanty had for Boise State this season along with the RB's personal achievements.

Thus, on his show '2Legendary' this week, Shedeur came up with a solution as to how both Hunter and Jeanty could take home individual awards. He suggested that the Boise State RB should win the Doak Walker Award for the best RB while his teammate takes home the Heisman trophy.

"I've seen his (Ashton Jeanty's) highlights, and he's been going crazy," Shedeur said. "I think he should win the running back award, whatever the best...I think he should win that award. I think Trav should win the Heisman. I just feel like everybody could be winners at the end of the day. Nobody's taking away from anybody." (TS-6:30)
