Quarterback Shedeur Sanders wanted to put the spotlight on his teammates ahead of the No. 20 Colorado Buffaloes' final game. On Saturday, the team will face the No. 17 BYU Cougars in the Valero Alamo Bowl. He joined wide receivers Will Sheppard, LaJohntay Wester, Jimmy Horn Jr. and safety Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig in a news conference on Thursday.
During the press conference, a reporter asked Sanders about his pregame walk to both end zones and whether he was looking forward to doing it for the last time with Colorado (9-3). The NFL draft prospect said that he wasn't thinking about it but focused on playing BYU (10-2).
"I think the walk is the least of my worries right now," Sanders said (Timestamp: 3:47). "I think they has a pretty good D and this bound to go second round. Early second round. So, that's kind of my focus right now."
He said that he was looking to dominate the Cougars in the Valero Alamo Bowl.
"It's bigger things and bigger tasks at hand," Sanders said (Timestamp: 4:02.) "The main thing is to win the game and do it in dominant fashion. Do it very clean and precise, and that's what our focus is."
The star quarterback also said that the team is fixing flaws in their game plan and watching old games of themselves to perform better on Saturday. After answering the question, he spotlighted his teammates so reporters could ask them questions.
"And by the way, you know I've got a lot of teammates up here, too?," the NFL draft prospect said, laughing (Timestamp: 4:36). "I'm just saying they wouldn't have came if it was just about me. It was pointless for them to come."
Despite his suggestion, reporters asked Sanders more questions than his teammates.
"I really hope it happens": Shedeur Sanders excited about possibility of playing with one of his teammates in the NFL
The last question a reporter asked Shedeur Sanders was what he would tell a team interested in drafting him and one of his teammates sitting with him. The quarterback praised Will Sheppard, LaJohntay Wester, Jimmy Horn Jr. and Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig, explaining why each is unique.
"Anyone of them I'm excited to play with," Sanders said (Timestamp: 11:13). "I really hope it happens, you know? I really hope it does because I know them, you know? I know everything about them, so I'm just, who knows? I'll be excited for it though, but I'm definitely pulling for them, though. I'm definitely am."
Colorado will try to focus on BYU as it aims to win its first bowl game since 2004.
