Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are on the brink of facing a humiliating defeat against the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl. The game, hyped as a prime-time Big 12 showdown featuring Heisman winner Travis Hunter and potential top NFL draft pick Shedeur Sanders, quickly turned into a disaster for Coach Prime.

The Buffaloes were trailing BYU 33-7 in the fourth quarter and ended the game 36-14, leading to a barrage of criticism on social media. One fan lamented,

"Probably Miss Peggy's last game for Colorado watching this crap," referencing the team's dedicated 100-year-old fan.
Another posted a meme with a tweet saying, "How BYU doing Colorado in the Alamo Bowl"

Other fans piled on, with one joking,

"Deion Sanders looks like he’s about to pack his bags and go towards Dallas-Fort Worth."

Another tweeted,

"Nothing like watching Deion Sanders and his team get destroyed while having their key guys actually play."
One particularly harsh comment targeted Shilo Sanders: "Shilo sanders would be selling balloons at six flags if it wasn’t for Deion."
"Deion Sanders made a mockery of the game I love...another shalacking by a ranked opponet. They gave Travis Hunter the Bendarik LOL and the Heisman LOL," said one more.

Even before halftime, Coach Prime acknowledged the dire situation in an interview and noted the areas that needed improvement.

“We gotta protect,” Coach Prime said. “We’re doing everything to try to move the ball… we’re gonna make the necessary adjustments at halftime and come out looking like a new team.”

However, these adjustments fell short, as the second half offered no relief for the Buffs.

BYU special teams ran riot over Deion Sanders' Colorado

BYU’s special teams put on a show in the Alamo Bowl. They’ve contributed massively in their dominant lead over Sanders’ Buffs. The kicking game proved to be a major factor in the first half. Kicker Will Ferrin nailed a 51-yard field goal in the first quarter, putting BYU up 10-0.

Ferrin entered the game with an impressive 21-24 record on field goal attempts. Ferrin then executed a successful onside kick. Later, Parker Kingston returned a Colorado punt 64 yards for a touchdown, extending BYU’s lead.

Kingston averaged 10.9 yards per punt return this season, and this was his first touchdown return. Ferrin then ended the half with a 54-yard field goal.

Colorado’s kicking game struggled compared to BYU's. Alejandro Mata missed a 48-yard field goal attempt. BYU’s special teams dominance has been a major storyline in the Alamo Bowl.
