Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo put up his best performance during the No. 12 Sun Devils' Peach Bowl showdown against the No. 3 Texas Longhorns in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal on Wednesday. Despite pushing the game to double overtime, Steve Sarkisian's team took home the victory 39-31, thanks to Quinn Ewers' 25-yard touchdown pass to Gunnar Helm in the second OT.

The Arizona State running back managed to put up 143 yards and two touchdowns against the Longhorns. However, he also had a tough time during the game when he was reported to be vomiting profusely on the sidelines in the fourth quarter.

A clip showed Cam Skattebo sitting fatigued on the bench while trying to regain his composure after throwing up. In the postgame press conference, he shed some light on the incident and talked about why the situation took place in the first place.

"I mean, I threw up. I drank too much water too fast," Skattebo said. "And I was kind of feeling sloshy, and then felt better after."

Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham made a hilarious reference about Skattebo's sideline puking that left the reporters during the press conference in splits.

"Puke and rally," Dillingham said.

Cam Skattebo initially began his collegiate journey with Sacramento State in the FCS coming out of high school. In 2023, the running back decided to enter the transfer portal and joined the Sun Devils. During his debut season with the team last year, Skattebo recorded 783 yards and nine touchdowns while ASU finished with a 3-9 record in the Pac-12.

This season, Arizona State joined the Big 12 and exceeded all expectations. The Sun Devils won the conference championship, earning a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff. Cam Skattebo was also honored as the Peach Bowl MVP for his performance despite the loss to Texas.

Cam Skattebo expresses gratitude to ASU

In the postgame press conference on Wednesday, the running back thanked all his teammates and coaches for the memories and guidance over the last two years. Skattebo said this time with the program helped him develop his talents as a player.

He also expressed his gratitude to Kenny Dillingham for allowing him to be an important part of ASU's offense in the last two seasons.

"ASU's changed my life forever," Skattebo said. "In a good way, simple. They have supported me through everything. Put me in a position to be successful. So I think that everybody in the ASU community, you know coach Dillingham and the staff who's sitting next to me right here, they've changed my life forever."

Skattebo has no eligibility left at the collegiate level and will be declaring for the 2025 NFL draft. Experts project him to be a late first-round to second-round pick for a team that wants to improve its rushing game.
