Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers is one of the best returning players in college football this upcoming season. His status in college football was recently underscored with a lucrative NIL deal with apparel giants Rhoback.
Ahead of Week 0, Ewers once again showcased why he is one of college football's biggest stars with an appearance on the iconic Dr. Pepper 'Fanville' commercials that mirror the current state of the sport.
Dr. Pepper released two episodes on Monday titled 'Hype Train' and 'Into the Great Unknown' where they referenced current issues in college football including the Michigan Wolverines' sign-stealing scandal.
Ewers also made an appearance as he played the part of a deputy sheriff while holding a Dr. Pepper and being declared a new character. Ewers announced his participation in the commercial on his Instagram stories which was captioned:
"There's a new sheriff in town. #ad @drpepper," Quinn Ewers wrote.
Andrew Springate, Keurig Dr. Pepper's Chief Marketing Officer, outlined the prestige that comes with being part of the 'Fanville' community.
“Dr. Pepper is ingrained in college football, woven into the culture and fandom surrounding the sport,” Springate said via PR Newswire. “It’s been a tremendous year for our brand as we continue to break barriers and hit new milestones of growth within our category.
"As we mark Dr Pepper’s 10th anniversary of becoming the Official Sponsor of the College Football Playoffs, we welcome the new changes energizing the game, as it provides us with even greater opportunities to engage with both new and long-term fans, celebrating new beginnings while embracing the traditions of fandom together,” he added.
Quinn Ewers continues upward trend with Dr. Pepper advertisement
There will be another episode of 'Fanville' season 7 titled 'Call for Backup' where Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers will be featured. The episode will include the quarterback's college football story.
Ewers will join the list of famous personalities who appeared in the 'Fanville' ads like former USC Trojans star and the top pick of the 2024 NFL draft, Caleb Williams, who appeared last year.
During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Ewers outlined the significance of becoming the first Texas athlete to make a cameo in the Dr. Pepper series.
"I feel like Dr. Pepper has always been a huge part of college football," Ewers said. "Thinking back since I was a kid, I remember just always seeing Dr. Pepper, whether that had been their tuition giveaway or these Fansville commercials. So being able to be a part of that is pretty special. Also, it's a Texas brand. They were formed in Texas. That always adds a little bit to it for sure."
The hype around Quinn Ewers is reflected in the lucrative NIL deals he has been linked to lately, with the Dr. Pepper series cameo a nod to his premium status in college football.
