Quinn Ewers led Texas to a heroic victory over Arizona State in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Day. The quarterback completed 20 of- 0 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns. He also added a score on the ground as the Longhorns sealed a 39-31 win in two overtimes.

Texas football’s director of creative media Derek Ochoa hyped up the quarterback's performance against the Sun Devils on Instagram on Monday. He posted an edited video of the Ewers’ only rushing touchdown of the game captured behind the endzone and captioned it with:

“Built different...”

Quinn Ewers reacted to the post in the comments section. The quarterback dropped two “fire emojis,” applauding the brilliance of the play as well as the video edit.

Quinn Ewers explains why he flipped his commitment to Ohio State from Texas

Quinn Ewers was a highly-rated prospect from Southlake, Texas. He was the No. 1 player in his class, according to 247Sports, and was committed to the Longhorns for a long period. However, the quarterback subsequently flipped his commitment to Ohio State.

On Monday, while speaking ahead of the Cotton Bowl against Ohio State, Ewers acknowledged that his decision was influenced by the NIL opportunities offered to him in Columbus. He enrolled at the school earlier than originally planned to take advantage of NIL opportunities.

“One of the main things was that the Texas legislature wasn’t going to allow Texas high school football players to be paid,” Ewers said via On3’s "Inside Texas.”
“Me and my family had a pretty big opportunity in front of us. We felt like it was a good decision for me to forego my senior year and enroll early at Ohio State. I had the opportunity to have some good money in our pockets as a family.”

Ewers' stint in Columbus proved to be brief. He made just one appearance in an Ohio State uniform, taking the field during mop-up duty in a 2021 blowout win over Michigan State. Shortly after Steve Sarkisian's hiring at Texas, Ewers transferred to his home state program.

Quinn Ewers' past and present will intersect on Friday night as Texas takes on Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals. With a coveted spot in the national championship on the line, this is a huge game in the college career of the former five-star quarterback.
