The Texas Longhorns had their Spring Game over the weekend and fans were glued on the quarterbacks.
Quinn Ewers returned for another season, while Arch Manning is set to be his backup. Manning performed well in the spring game, going 19-for-26 for 355 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.
Ewers, meanwhile, didn't play much in the Spring Game but did throw an interception on his first pass attempt, which went for a pick-six.
The official statistics weren't recorded, but according to the outlet Austin American Statesman, Ewers completed just one pass for 12 yards, as the QB didn't play much, which was the plan, as Texas wanted Arch Manning and Trey Owens to get the bulk of the snaps.
"I knew this entire week I was gonna have one to two drives. As a competitor, I definitely wanted to go out there and put a good drive together but didn't happen," he said.
Although Ewers didn't play much, he will be Texas' starting quarterback for the 2024 college football season.
Quinn Ewers returning for his third season at Texas
Quinn Ewers decided to return for his third year at Texas despite receiving NFL Draft interest.
Ewers hopes to boost his draft stock while also hoping to lead the Longhorns to a national championship.
"Dear Longhorn Nation, ever since I was a kid I dreamed of playing football at the University of Texas," Ewers said in his announcement. "I couldn't be more thankful for all my teammates and coaches, and I'm beyond grateful to be in the position I'm in," Ewers said.
"God has shown me who I am these past two years that I have been here, and through the ups and downs, these fans and this university have always had my back. With that being said, I'm coming back. Hook 'Em."
Last season at Texas, Ewers went 272-for-394 for 3,479 yards 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions. The Longhorns won the Big 12 and made it to the college football playoffs, but lost to Washington in the semifinals.
