Quinn Ewers has generated a lot of attention this season for both his play on the field and debate off of it. His play on the field has been strong and he has been a big reason the Texas Longhorns have advanced to the college football playoff semifinals. However, there are still some who would like to see backup Arch Manning play in front of him.
Analyst Rich Eisen released an episode of "The Rich Eisen Show" on Thursday. On the episode, he talked about Ewers' performance against Arizona State in the Peach Bowl on Wednesday and what he might be thinking during those games (starts at 7:10).
Eisen talked about Quinn Ewers' possible mindset going against a program he transferred out of. Texas and Ohio State will clash in the Cotton Bowl on Friday in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
"That might be in the back of his head while he's playing here. Maybe that's in the back of his head here, make these throws, go on a run, becomes a first round pick and doesn't look back."
"Next up for him is Ohio State and, as we all know, that's where he was before he left the quarterback room there. He left it because CJ Stroud was there and then Kyle McCord got the job. He was at Texas at that point in time."
"And we all know, he has a history with Ohio State. For him to take a step forward while ending what seems to be an inevitable Buckeye run here, is truly some great theatre. And it's also some plays behind the play of the week."
While Eisen talked about Ewers playing well to improve his draft stock, there are rumors that he could return to college for his final season of NCAA eligibility. There are even rumors that he could receive a $6 million NIL deal.
One team is rumored to be prepared to offer Quinn Ewers $6 million in the transfer portal
There is a strong possibility that Quinn Ewers will declare for the NFL draft after the college football playoff, especially if he plays well and improves his draft stock. However, there are rumors that some teams will try to lure him back to college with a big NIL offer.
One unidentified program is reported to be prepared to offer Quinn Ewers a $6 million NIL deal to come to their program next season. If Ewers is going to return to college, it will not be with Texas. The Longhorns have reportedly made it clear that Arch Manning will be the starter next season regardless of what happens this season.
