Quinn Ewers is preparing to lead the Texas Longhorns into their Cotton Bowl game with the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday in a College Football Playoff semifinal. But as well as getting set for the game, his future remains a hot discussion point. The quarterback is likely to not return to the program for 2025, as the team is expected to give Arch Manning the starting role.

According to a report a few weeks ago, there was a school that offered Ewers $6 million to transfer. The school has not been identified and may not until Ewers makes his decision public.

When asked about the speculation on Thursday, Ewers said:

“I mean, right now, I'm just not worried about all that stuff. I mean, people can say all they want to say, but, you know, I'm just focused on Friday at this point in time.”

Instead of engaging in the rumors, Ewers has taken the professional route. In his head, there is only one thing that he needs to be focusing on, and this is the Cotton Bowl.

For him to lead the team to their first national championship game since 2009 and potentially their first national championship since the iconic 2006 Rose Bowl win would be career-defining. Becoming a national champion would turn what has been a challenging season for Ewers into a successful one.

Has Quinn Ewers decided, and what are the other options?

Quinn Ewers has not announced what he will do after this season: head to the NFL draft, remain at Texas or transfer to another team.

If Ewers declares for the 2025 NFL draft, he would be one of the higher-ranked quarterbacks in a somewhat poor QB class.

According to the NFL draft buzz, Quinn Ewers is the fourth-best QB in the class. In a year that only a few teams are in desperate need of a quarterback, Ewers may struggle to be a top pick, especially when he is battling Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward and Jalen Milroe.

Winning the national championship could be all he needs to put him in the running to be a top prospect.
