Urban Meyer is apparently not in favor of money in college sports. Money and NIL have profoundly changed college football, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. A story of this dark side of the new reality of college football was given by Meyer on "The Triple Option" show.

On Wednesday, Meyer said the following regarding how money has negatively affected college football (Timestamp: 14:00):

"I spoke to a GM at one of the top schools of the country. They had to put out a memo and a text that said, 'Quit coming to my office, agents, players, third uncles, asking for money. We have a game coming up, put this on hold. Let's try, we have a really good team we're going to play, let's try to block, tackle, learn the scheme, go in the game and then we'll have conversations about (money)."

While unverified, the story goes to show a whole new side to college athletics since the inception of the NIL era. While NIL deals have balanced the playing field, generating revenue for student-athletes who before never saw a dime from what's annually a billion-dollar industry, its introduction has also chipped away at the spirit of college athletics.

However, for some, it may seem rich for Urban Meyer to complain about money in college sports, after having amassed a $35 million fortune as a football coach.

Urban Meyer doesn't believe Ohio State will fire Ryan Day

Speaking this week to Colin Cowherd on FS1's "The Herd," Urban Meyer opened up about what he thinks Ohio State will do with Ryan Day if the Buckeyes lose their College Football Playoff game against Tennessee on Saturday.

According to Urban Meyer, Day's job is secure for the time being:

"They will not do that now. There's no chance they'll do that now. Because, Colin, if you made that change, you'll lose the roster. They can't do that. ... I don't believe that they do that. It would just be too much pressure for Coach Day and that staff, so, no, I don't believe they do that,"

Ohio State hosts the Volunteers on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio, at 8 p.m. ET. The Buckeyes are 7.5-point favorites for the encounter, which will air on ABC and ESPN.
