Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely wore Deion Sanders' Nike cleats in Thursday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Likely wore the Nike Vapor Edge '96 TD, an upgraded version of Sanders' signature shoes from the 1990s.
The cleat's colorway is a black nubuck upper with white claw marks on the synthetic underlays as well as gold detailing and "Prime" branding to provide the finishing touches.
In a tightly contested game, Isaiah Likely caught a touchdown in the end zone with no time left on the clock. After review, it was determined that Likely's toes were out of bounds, and the game ended with the Ravens losing 27-20.
After the game, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes advised Isaiah Likely to wear white cleats instead.
"It looked good from my angle on the sideline," Mahomes said, via Yahoo. "But then that first view you saw you could see the cleat. That's a great football team and I'm sure we'll see them again at some point in the playoffs. We're happy with the win now. He's got to wear white cleats next time, that's my advice for him."
Likely finished the game with nine receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Deion Sanders praises HC Matt Rhule ahead of Nebraska showdown
Deion Sanders is entering his second year as the coach of the Colorado Buffaloes.
The Buffaloes went 4-8 last season, after starting the year 3-0. It was a disappointing end to the season, but to kick off 2024, Sanders' Colorado is 1-0 with a win over North Dakota State.
The Buffaloes will go on the road to play Nebraska in Week 2, and ahead of the matchup, Sanders heaped praise on Cornhuskers coach Matt Rhule.
"I have a ton of respect for Matt Rhule," Sanders said, via ESPN. "He's in -- I call it our class of coaches. We all took on a tremendous test last year along with [Arizona State] Coach [Kenny] Dillingham and several others. So, I feel like we're a fraternity. So, I root for that class of head coaches that came in that year."
Colorado is a seven-point underdog against Nebraska on Saturday. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
