JuJu Watkins and the USC Trojans are back at the facility center to train for the 2024-2025 college basketball season. She was spotted practicing with her teammates in an Instagram post shared by the USC Trojans' WBB page on September 18.
In one of the slides of the post, Watkins discussed the training process, saying:
"Yeah, everything's been going great, just now it's preseason so we're ready to go, really locked in. Just great vibes. All around excited for the season. I've been working a lot on my pace this summer and really slowing the game down. I think that'll help me a lot especially when it comes to making more decision in the game."
JuJu Watkins described her new role as a leader for the USC Trojans freshmen
The USC Trojans standout JuJu Watkins made an appearance on LSU's Flau'jae Johnson's podcast called "Best Of Both Worlds" on September 6. Watkins talked about her favorite Hollywood celebrities who pulled up to her games, her connection with her famous hairstyle and much more.
When asked by Johnson about her goals for the future and if she sees herself in a leadership role, Watkins said that she has been acting as a leader for her freshman teammates.
"We got a lot of freshmen so I had to share my experiences and help them become a better version of themselves. I got my vets that I can learn from. But I think my goal is to use my voice more," Watkins said (17:55).
JuJu Watkins then continued to explain that her role has shifted now as she is no longer a freshman.
"I didn't really use it last year because I'm a freshman coming into [college]. I got to hype up the team when we needed. It's kind of like, get the team hyped up but also give your opinion on this. Just give more input [into the game]." (18:18)
JuJu Watkins will have the support of Stanford transfer KiKi Iriafen and former Oregon State star Talia von Oelhofeen this season. With the help of her other new teammates, the USC Trojans can expect to fare well in the season and can even aim to win the 2025 NCAAW tournament.
