Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter found himself in the middle of some unexpected drama with former NFL star Richard Sherman. It all started when Sherman called Hunter a "bland receiver," inviting many reactions.
However, Sherman quickly clarified that he was misunderstood, and the two cleared the air on Hunter's podcast, “The Travis Hunter Show.” During the episode, Sherman explained:
"First off, people hear what they want to hear. What I said was 'blend.' It's just because there's so many dudes playing receiver. So many 4.3s, 6-foot-1, athletic. There's a lot of young kids that are talented that can play receiver. But there are very few corners that can be athletic, have the ball skills have the extinct.
“That's what I meant, you're going to blend into the crowd, but as a corner, it just stands out. Everything you do stands out far and away." [00:40]
Hunter took it all in his stride, laughing off the misunderstanding and assuring fans there were no hard feelings. He even shared that he admired Sherman during his time with the 49ers.

Deion Sanders mediated between Travis Hunter and Richard Sherman
Colorado coach Deion Sanders quickly stepped in two weeks ago before a potential misunderstanding between his star wide receiver and NFL legend Sherman accelerated further.
It all started when Sherman critiqued Hunter’s two-way abilities on the “St. Brown Podcast,” sparking a response from the Colorado cornerback, who asked people to let him focus on the game.
The situation didn’t sit well with fans, but thanks to Coach Prime, the air was cleared. In a tweet, Sherman expressed his appreciation for Sanders' role in setting up a conversation.
"Just had a great conversation with @TravisHunterJr! Preciate you @DeionSanders for setting that up. Huge fan of that young man and grateful to be able to clear that up," Sherman wrote.
Sherman’s initial comments, which sparked the controversy, focused on the challenges of translating Hunter’s two-way play to the NFL. He remarked that while Hunter is a smooth athlete, playing offense and defense at the next level comes with different demands.
