The Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Tennessee Volunteers 42-17 to advance in the 12-team playoffs. Ryan Day and his team put up a 10-2 campaign in the regular season. Their Week 14 loss to Michigan eliminated them from competing for the Big Ten championship but fortunately qualified for the playoffs.

The Buckeyes looked like they rectified and learned from their mistakes against Michigan. They took a commanding 21-0 lead right at the start of the first half, putting immense pressure on the Vols. Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava tried his best to lessen the deficit after scoring a rushing touchdown near the end of the first half.

However, the Buckeyes did not take their foot off the pedal on offense. They scored three more touchdowns, making it impossible for the Vols to emerge victorious. They only got a consolation touchdown thanks to Nico Iamaleava with just over one minute left in the game. Ryan Dan will now have a rematch against the undefeated Oregon Ducks next.

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts and opinions about the upcoming rematch between Ohio State and Oregon.

"Rose Bowl determining natty, tbh," one fan said.
"If Ohio State can get the same effort from their D-line against Oregon that they did tonight, I like Ohio State," another fan stated.
'If the Ohio State team that played tonight shows up they'll be tough to beat by Oregon or anyone else," a fan said.

Another fan gave Oregon the vote of confidence as Rose Bowl champions.

"Oregon will win again."
"Ohio State is p***ed. I don't think they're losing to Oregon again," another fan stated.
"OH YEAH THE PEOPLE GOT THE MATCHUP WE WANTED. PLS KNOCK OREGON OUT LMFAO," one fan was hyped about the rematch.

During their first meeting this season, Dan Lanning's team secured the victory by one point Atticus Sappington scored a 19-yard field goal with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter to take the Ducks across the finish line.

If Sappington hadn't scored, the Buckeyes would have won 31-29. So, fans expect Ryan Day and his team to not make the same mistakes against Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

Ryan Day explains Ohio State's aggressive mindset against Tennessee

In the post-game press conference, Ryan Day talked about why the Buckeyes played more aggressively on the offense than usual against the Vols. He stated that he wanted to control the momentum of the game right from the start and not allow his opponent to regain their composure.

Ryan Day also praised QB Will Howard for being efficient in his performance. Howard finished the game tallying 311 yards and two touchdowns passing while completing 24 of the 29 passes he made.

"We called this game more aggressively. There is not question about that. But also, I think we did some things in this game that maximized what we have in terms of our strengths and minimized our deficiencies."
"I also thought Will (Howard) was excellent in this game. Played really well. Did a really good job of placing the ball...Certainly Jeremiah Smith was dynamite again. But Will was a leader."

The last time the Buckeyes won a national championship was back in 2014. Day has led the team to four college football playoff appearances. But unfortunately, he has come short of winning the natty. Will his luck seem some change this season?
