At halftime, they led 14-3. Their defense stifled the Huskies' offense, preventing a single trip to the end zone. The Huskies attempted a comeback in the second half, but a couple of missed field goals by Grady Gross left them three points short as Rutgers won 21-18.

The Huskies struck first with a 22-yard field goal by kicker Grady Gross. The first touchdown drive of the game came in the second quarter. After 15 plays and 75 yards, a 1-yard rushing touchdown from Kyle Monangai got the Rutgers a 7-3 lead. This was followed by Gross missing a 42-yard FG opportunity.
Both teams' secondary seemed locked in, forcing punts before another successful offensive drive by the Scarlet Knights. Athan Kaliakmanis threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Ian Strong, which extended the team's lead to 14-3 at halftime.
The Huskies started the third quarter with a perfect offensive drive, which ended with Will Rogers finding Denzel Boston for a 51-yard TD.
However, the Scarlet Knights conjured another strong offensive possession, with Samuel Brown V running 37 yards for a TD to extend his team's lead to 21-10.
Grady Gross then missed a 37-yard field goal as Rutgers maintained its lead.
The Huskies forced Rutgers to punt and stitched together a touchdown drive. Will Rogers threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Denzel Boston and a successful two-point conversion cit the lead to 21-18.
With not much time remaining on the clock, the Huskies defense forced a stop. Gross then set up for a 55-yard field goal but missed as the Scarlet Knights prevailed 21-18.
