College football fans continued to troll Ohio State Buckeyes coach Ryan Day over his ongoing rivalry with legendary Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz. As Day and Ohio State prepare to play Notre Dame in the national championship on Jan. 20, the rivalry between Holtz and Day was brought back up. When a reporter asked Day if he and Holtz ever patched up their relationship, Day responded, "No."

“Speaking of that, I’m just curious, have you and Lou Holtz ever talk since then, either patching things up or comments between you two,” a reporter asked Day during Sunday’s CFP webinar, via On3.
“No,” Day said, keeping it short.

After Day's comments, fans took to X to criticize the Ohio State coach.

"Ryan Day beefing with an 88-year-old man is peak Ryan Day," a fan said.
"Ryan Day gonna be embarrassed next Monday," another fan said.

Fans think Day shouldn't be caring about Holtz at all ahead of the national championship game.

"The fact that 80+ old Lou Holtz lives rent free in Ryan Day’s head is absolute cinema," another fan said.

College football fans believe Holtz has the ability to get into Day's head and force the coach to make bad decisions.

"Lmaooo day is the softest human on earth. 99-year-old lou???," a fan said.

Holtz last coached in college football in 2004 with the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Lou Holtz questioned Ryan Day & Ohio State's toughness

Ahead of an Ohio State-Notre Dame game in September 2023, Lou Holtza appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and questioned Ryan Day and the Buckeyes' toughness, especially after how Michigan had been beating them.

“You look at Coach Day — and I coached at Ohio State under Woody Hayes. We won the national championship when I was there," Holtz said, via NY Post. "I’m proud of that. However, (Day) has lost to Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and Michigan twice. And everybody that beats him does so because they are more physical than Ohio State. And I think Notre Dame will take that same approach."

After Ohio State beat Notre Dame, the coach took aim at Lou Holtz for his comments.

"I’d like to know where Lou Holtz is right now," Day said.

Holtz then doubled down on his comments, saying he doesn't regret it as it is the truth.
