Ryland Gandy joined the Pittsburgh Panthers as a three-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He appeared in 29 games during his three-year tenure with the program, recording 47 total tackles, 28 of which were solo tackles, 1.0 tackles for loss and two passes defended.

Gandy took to X/Twitter on Monday to reveal that he had entered the transfer portal:

"First and foremost I want to thank God for blessing me to have the ability to play the sport I love so much. I would also like to thank Coach Narduzzi, Coach Collins, and staff for taking a chance on me out of high school," Gandy said. "A special thank you to the Oakland Zoo student section. Y'all showed up for the team through the good and bad times. Y'all are truly one of the best student sections in the country.
"I am grateful for my time at the University of Pittsburgh and I will always cherish the relationships I have built here over the years. Pitt has prepared me for life on and off the field. Unfortunately, my time here has come to an end. Pitt will forever hold a special place in my heart and I will treasure the memories made. With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility left. 10 out," he added.

Here's a closer look at five potential landing spots for Gandy via the transfer portal.

5 potential Ryland Gandy landing spots via transfer portal

#1. Colorado Buffaloes

The Colorado Buffaloes will have big shoes to fill in the secondary next season, as two-way star Travis Hunter is expected to enter the 2025 NFL draft. Coach Deion Sanders has shown that he's willing to utilize the transfer portal to improve the roster. The Buffaloes recruited Ryland Gandy out of high school and could target him once again.

#2. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Despite finishing the season 8-5, the Texas Tech Red Raiders were abysmal against the pass in 2024 as they were the second-worst unit in the nation. They allowed 308.1 passing yards per game, which was a major part of the reason they allowed 34.8 points per game, the 13th-most in the nation. The Red Raiders could look to target Ryland Gandy to help improve their biggest weakness.

#3: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were a middle-of-the-pack unit against the pass in 2024, however, they will likely be looking to add talent to their secondary. They recruited Ryland Gandy out of high school and could provide him with the opportunity to return to his home state.

#4. Stanford Cardinal

The Stanford Cardinal struggled tremendously against the pass in 2024, allowing 280.6 passing yards per game, the fourth-most in the nation. They allowed 33.7 points per game, which was the 19th-most in the nation. While they did not recruit Ryland Gandy out of high school, they could look to kick the tires on the cornerback as they need all the secondary help they can get.

#5. West Virginia Mountaineers

The West Virginia Mountaineers were the only program outside of the Pittsburgh Panthers to have an official visit with Ryland Gandy. Their defense also struggled in 2024 as they allowed 270.8 passing yards per game and 31.9 points per game, the ninth and 25th-most in the nation, respectively.
