Shilo and Shedeur Sanders made the news on Wednesday morning by accepting invites to the 100th East-West Shrine Bowl. The Shrine Bowl is a postseason college football all-star game played annually since 1925. To qualify, players must be college seniors playing for colleges in the Eastern or Western United States.
Both members of the Sanders family were invited as both are stars in their positions. Shedeur Sanders is among the best quarterbacks in the nation and is projected to go top five in the 2025 NFL draft. Meanwhile, when healthy, Shilo Sanders is an excellent safety for the No. 16 Colorado Buffaloes (8-2).
However, inviting both to the Shrine Bowl has divided fans, as some support the invitation, whereas others oppose it. What's interesting about the invitation is that the event will be held at the Dallas Cowboys stadium. Their father and coach, Deion Sanders, has been linked to the Cowboys as a possible off-season hire.
"Wonder why. Where is it played at?" One fan tweeted.
Some were happy to see the brothers accept the invitation, pointing out that stars do not accept invitations to these games.
"This is huge. I love that the big players aren’t skipping out on these invites," one fan tweeted.
"That's interesting for sure. I wouldn't have guessed he'd participate. Pretty cool bc that will provide more visibility to some of the other players there," one fan tweeted.
The Colorado Buffaloes and Sanders family look to push for the playoffs
Although the Sanders brothers have accepted invitations to play in the Shrine Bowl, they should worry about the end of their season. The Buffaloes are positioned well to play in the Big 12 Championship Game. However, they must first get wins over Kansas and Oklahoma State. After securing those wins followed by a win in the championship game, the Buffs will be ready for a playoff run.
